The Pinewood Derby is a classic Cub Scout tradition where Scouts design, build, and race small wooden cars. It gives kids a fun, hands-on way to practice creativity, basic engineering, problem-solving, and good sportsmanship. First introduced in 1953, the Pinewood Derby has become one of the most recognizable traditions in Cub Scouting.
